Learned

When did I become learned?

Reflections…

When the Jews were accusing Apostle Paul in the book of Acts chapter 23 and plotting to kill him, Paul’s sister’s son overheard their plots and he at once told Paul (God always has a Ram in the bush…) Paul had his nephew go and tell the Commander of the Roman Guard, what he had heard. The bible says he was a, “young man,” and goes on to say the Commander, “took him by the hand” in verse 19. This leads me to believe that Paul’s nephew had to be of a certain age. He was young enough for the Roman Commander to, “take him by the hand,” but old enough to recount all the things he overheard the Jews plotting in detail.

Instead of Paul going to the Roman Commander himself, he sent a child to speak on his behalf. This spoke volumes to me. Children are the most innocent. They truly don’t know any better, which makes them the most vulnerable. Children have no learned filters, and speak truth, unfiltered, unapologetically… They are pure.

When did I become so learned that I forgot how to be a child before my Heavenly Father? In Matthew 18:3, Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you, except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Being born again, childlike. A child just believes. They don’t doubt, they don’t question, but they automatically trust. Protecting a child’s innocence is paramount. If not protected, it will shape their world view of through a negative lens. If not protected, their reality will be distorted. As an adult, I desire to get back to the basics, back to simplicity of just being before my Father, in Heaven and resting. Unplugging from the lies, uprooting all distortions and simply believing.
