2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
A few mornings ago, I woke up from a dream lustful in nature. It wasnt sexual intercourse, but it was lustful. Immediately upon waking, I knew the dream was sponsored from my flesh. It wasn’t a demonic spirit, but it was the flesh and it’s evil desires.
Galatians 5:19-21 says these are the works of the flesh: “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like.”
There’s nothing good that resides in our flesh, nothing. I was reminded this morning of how the old man still has its old desires, though I am a new creation in Christ. The flesh fantasizes and creates imaginations. Our flesh is at emitiy with God, and it always will be until we receive our new bodies. The carnal mind and the flesh work in tandem with each other, but as new creations, we have the mind of Christ.
I praise God for His Spirit and truth of His Word. I am grateful for the cross, and that sin and death no longer have dominion over me (Romans 6:14). That my flesh has been crucified and it is no longer I who lives, but Christ in me (Galatians 2:20). When I woke up this morning, I quickly thanked God for His truth of my identity in Him.
2 Corinthians 10:5
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”
The following nights, I said a simple prayer, that my flesh be in subjection to the Spirit of God in me, that it has been crucified with Christ and the dream hasn’t resurfaced. The flesh always wants us to make a u-turn and go back to old ways, but we have authority in Christ, and just like everything is under His feet, they are under ours.
