1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
A thought presented itself today and I was immediately faced with a decision. I was either going to say yes to the thought and allow my mind to fantasize on things I shouldn’t, or I would choose to not entertain it. In that same moment I thought of being a Bride to Christ and even thought about if this was my husband how would I feel if he was fantasizing about another. I thought about how would my Father feel, and I quickly made the decision to cast the imagination down. The enemy will whisper lies and say, “it’s just you,” or “you’re not harming anyone.” The reality is, unfaithfulness starts in the heart and our enemy always looks for an ‘opportune’ time.
Many temptations bombard us on any given day. Temptations to feel, angry, offended, discouraged, lustful, jealous, envious, prideful, impulsive, depressed, unworthy, or discontent to name a few. The enemy is always attempting to take our focus off of Christ, and off of the Truth of His Word.
As it’s been said, we wrestle with three things: the enemy, the world and our flesh. The good news is, Christ has over come the world and He has defeated sin and death, and as believers they have no power over us. Our minds are incredible and the enemy knows if he can plant a seed in our mind (have a foot hole), it will grow. In its infancy, everything starts as a thought. Situations don’t become full blown instantly, but are a gradual process of thoughts that lead up to being acted upon. Thoughts unchecked is ammunition for the Thief of our souls. Scripture tells us to cast our cares upon Him (God), because He cares and to be sober minded. The enemies whole objective is to cloud our thoughts and have us pint up inside so we can be distant from our Father. Scripture says His strength is made perfect in our weakness. So let’s boast and confess that we are weak, but He is strong 💪🏽
