John 18:36 “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.”
The year was 2020…
I remember standing in a group of red shirts, huddled around listening to our pep talk before hitting the streets. We were all gearing up to go door to door, sharing literature on upcoming local candidates. I stood proud as I believed I was standing for Righetouness sake. I was proud because I believed I was coming after the kingdom of darkness. As I was out, the Holy Spirit gently whispered to me, “would you do this for Me…?” Immediately it stopped me right in my tracks…conviction hit me like a ton of bricks.. From that day on, I retired my political affiliation forever. God reminded me, my identity is not in a party, but in Him. That it was not about pushing a political agenda, but all about His Kingdom.
I bought into the hyper of 45. I carried the conservative torch, while totting my bible in my other hand… I was in the matrix. During that time, I was connected to various groups. One of which was heavily involved in abolitionist work, and through my connections there, I ended up being apart of a small group bible study on Wednesday nights. The Pastor was a gifted teacher (remembering gifts are given without repentance) and I found myself absorbing his teachings and wanting to learn more of all the ‘isims’ they taught about. This study was very top heavy in head knowledge and terms like presuppositionalism, antinomianism, and other theological words. Up until this point, I had never heard of the term, ‘Christian Recontructionalism” but I begin to put the pieces of the puzzle together, as time went on.
The Pastor was versed at posing thought proviking questions, was a great speaker and authored many books. I begin to notice a theme with an emphasis on God’s judgements and Old Testament laws. I realized we hardly spent time in the New Testament, but a lot of focus was put on the Torah (the first 5 books of the bible). The studies would focus on the Church having dominion over key areas such as family, religion, education, entertainment, media, business and govenrment. I later found out this aligned with the 7 areas of influence teachings, also known as the 7 mountain mandate or 7 mountain theory…An older teaching, repackaged. This doctrine pushes Christianity dominating all influential spheres..in other words a Theocracy.
If I could summarize it, it was like Evangelicalism on steroids
On the surface, for any believer, who would say no to Christian world dominance? But the underlying question is, is this even biblical or line up with biblical prophecy? Spoiler alert….America is NOT the kingdom of God. Being patriotic doesn’t automatically mean you are a Christian, and born again. The great Commission says to go and make disciples of all nations, not turn nations into a Christian nation (but as history has shown us, that is exactly what Catholicism tried to do.) Separation of church and state was non-existent, and this gave birth the Inquisitions which were raiding bands from the Roman Catholic church which persecuted anyone who did not come into alignment with their beliefs. Outsiders were dubbed as “heretics.” Ironically they believed they were on mission from God, but I digress… The issue is the hearts of men at its core. We have a sin problem, and only the Gospel of Christ Jesus is the antidote.
Ironically, God would later use someone to draw attention to some of the teachings the Pastor of this Bible study supported, and it lead me to do a deep dive into Christian Reconstructialism. Christian Recontructionalism works through the political arm of the present age. We’ve seen examples in histories past in the Moral majority and its still the same today. The devil is truly in the details and he is crafty..
