One

John 14:11

“Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.”

Reflections

I was listening to a message on Godly marriage that really blessed me from one of my favorite couples. In the episode, they had two guests on their show, who are friends and mentors.

The guest husband pressed in on the theme of oneness in marriage. And how things like assumptions, lack of transparency, unrealistic expectations and not to mention an enemy trying to sow lies, can cause further divides in relationships. The couple shared how they got through a rough patch one season by practicing open confession with one another, which exposed the lies of the enemy. In those moments, they would share assumptions they held (which were based on lies) then they would pray with one another, allowing the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth, to come in. The lie would then completely loose its power! Lies are proped up by remaining hidden..

Scripture says “confess your faults to one another, so you may be healed,” (James 5:16). Light exposes all darkness and the enemies biggest tactic is to keep things in the dark. Jesus and the Father are One, just like we are one in Him. As I was listening to the episode, the Lord reminded me of the moments when I would come to Him and share all of my deepest worries, doubts, concerns and fears and how it allowed Him to:

step in and bring comfort,
step in and expose wrong thinking,
step in with His loving embrace…

The enemy operates in shame, guilt, condemnation, accusations, and assumptions (to name a few). And at the end of the day, all of those things are rooted in Fear. The opposite of love is not hate, but fear. “Perfect love casts out all fear,” and God is love Himself.

We have a physical example of oneness in the natural realm, but God allows us to experience Oneness in Him, spiritually. “And the two shall become one flesh,” (Genesis 2:24) 💜
